Rocmaura's History
Rocmaura is a 150 bed, fully accredited nursing
home providing 24 hour care. The Home has devised a program of
modular care: Rocmaura is divided into 4 distinct courts,
each with its own court-specific multidisciplinary staff, trained
by consultant, Len Fabiano, CEO of FCS International and has
its own specific programming according to the specialty of the
court.
Rocmaura was officially opened on December 16, 1972, eighty-four
years after the first Nursing Home was opened on December 18,
1888, under the sponsorship of the Sisters of Charity of the
Immaculate Conception(SCIC). The SCIC maintained its
high standards throughout the years, providing quality
care to the elderly who's needs are beyond what family and
community services are able to offer.
The Home has Recreationist-directed
programming, a unique Pastoral Care and Mission focus, a proactive
Resident Council and has participated in numerous provincial
pilots plus conducted its own research in the field of Alzheimer
Care.
Rocmaura is a leading provider
of care for seniors of all denominations in the Saint John region.
Our Home provides 24-hour nursing care, with all ancillary services,
to eligible persons who have been assessed by the Single Entry
Point Systerm.
As part of our Outreach Program, Rocmaura takes pride in the fact that we have been providing Meals-on-Wheels to the public since March 1, 1977. Rocmaura plays an important role in community
life by making its meeting rooms available to the public and
by hosting various public events and gatherings.
