Murray Yorke was an incredibly talented and famous artist, whose paintings hung in prominent homes and galleries throughout the US and Canada. Murray sketched as a child but it wasn't until later in life at age 43 that he did his first professional showing of marine paintings.
Although he had no formal training, he became a renowned marine artist whose subjects typically include seascapes and boats based on his childhood memories of summers spent on the fishing wharves of his hometown of Parrsboro, NS.
A long list of collectors own his artworks, including Malcolm Forbes in NY, Jack Nicklaus, JK Irving, and Mitchell Franklin. Murray was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at age 70 and arrived at Rocmaura on New Year's Eve 2016. He signed and numbered his last painting at 81 for his granddaughter's wedding. Sylvia remains a dear friend of Rocmaura and donated this print as a gift to help raise funds for the Foundation. Our mission is to help make life better in our "home away from home."
